Dermatologist Dr. Maryam Shayesteh Alam specializes in skin cancer, with a particular focus on melanoma. Other areas of expertise include psoriasis, eczema, acne, and acute and chronic skin conditions. Dr. Alam graduated from The School of Medicine of the University of Tehran in 1995, and moved to Toronto, Ontario to undergo advanced training at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

She has treated patients in Barrie since 2007, building a reputation as an outstanding diagnostician and expert manager of pre-malignant, malignant, and benign skin lesions.

Dr. Alam has conducted clinical trials of new psoriasis and actinic keratosis treatments.  She regularly participates in community events, promoting skin cancer screening and raising awareness of the importance of skin cancer prevention.

Dr. Alam’s excellent training, lengthy experience, and promptness complement her technical skills.  She provides exceptional ongoing care for patients referred to her by family doctors in the Simcoe Region. Dr. Alam is committed to providing the most up-to-date and comprehensive treatment for each of her patients, especially those suffering from skin cancer.
